Pitt and Jolie facing more legal issues after divorce

It is understandable for former spouses to want to swiftly tie up all loose legal ends so that they can go their separate ways and leave the past behind. It is not always easy to do that, however, especially if a particular pair of New Jersey spouses continue to encounter legal challenges after their divorce is finalized. This often occurs in cases that involve children. In the case of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, for instance, the former couple has continued to go back and forth to court to resolve post-judgment matters.

Pitt’s friend says custody battle has taken a lot out of him

Pitt and Jolie were married for approximately 12 years before Jolie filed for divorce. Since then, the two have been fighting over their children. A friend of Pitt’s told reporters that the child custody battle has taken a severe toll on Pitt, who reportedly feels that he is missing out on spending time with his children while the court sorts out yet another co-parenting problem between him and Jolie.

Jolie wants to be able to travel with her kids without Pitt’s permission

Pitt has requested shared custody of his children. The court is currently considering Jolie’s request to be able to leave the country with her kids without seeking Pitt’s approval. Pitt apparently believes Jolie is trying to use the court system to paint him in an unfavorable light and to turn his children against him.

Post-judgment matters should be resolved as soon as possible

The court understands that divorce can have a negative effect on children, especially if they are constantly exposed to parental conflict. In Pitt’s case, he has supposedly spent more than $1 million on legal fees so far and says he will spend as much as it takes to be able to be with his children. A concerned New Jersey parent facing similar problems would be wise to connect with an experienced family law attorney who can protect his or her rights and ensure that proceedings focus on children’s best interests.
